Steady rains this week brought silvery skies and an new burst of blossoms, including:
The willow’s catkin (Salix discolor)
The Bay Laurel (Laurus nobilis)
the Santa Rosa plum (Prunus salicina),
and daffodils and calla-lilies everywhere.
Meanwhile, the starlings have returned to the wires.
Calla Lilies? Calla lilies bloom in the wild? Crazy! Who knew?! (Have I exposed myself as total northeast coast girl?)
Jennifer, currently encased in ice
They are found in the wild around here, but I’m not sure they are native. As an east coaster myself, this still takes me by surprise, having only ever seen them in fancy florists and Mapplethorpe photos before moving to Californis.. Sorry about the ice- stay warm and thanks for the comment! Scott
